The first is of course the standard upright model that I have just mentioned. These may be a little old-fashioned, but they are still an excellent choice for both newbies and seasoned fitness fanatics.
It is possible to buy a very basic entry-level bike for less than $100 these days, but you can also buy one costing several hundred, or indeed several thousand dollars if you prefer.
They are all capable of giving you an excellent workout. The only difference is that the more expensive machines have a lot more features and add-ons.
The second type of bike you might want to consider buying is the recumbent exercise bicycle.
These are similar to upright bicycles, but the only real difference is the seating position because they often include a lower seat with a back rest, and you are generally in a much more comfortable position. Therefore they are perfect for those people who suffer from back problems.
The third type that you may also want to consider buying is one that is perfect if you have very little to spend. I am of course talking about basic pedal machines which have no frame or handlebars. All you have is the pedals, which means you can pedal away whilst you are sat down watching TV, for example.
Finally on a similar note, you may also want to think about investing in one of the brand new models that double up as a workstation. These exercise bikes have a desk built into them so that you can do some work or use your laptop, for example, at the same time.
I personally like to listen to music or read a magazine whilst doing a workout, but I can appreciate that many people, particularly those who lead very busy lives, might find these machines hugely beneficial.
Anyway the point is that there are lots of options for those people looking to invest in a good quality home exercise bike.
The upright bike will always be a firm favorite with many people, including myself, but recumbent exercise bicycles, pedal machines and workstation bicycles are growing in popularity all the time, and will still give you a great workout.
